Gates of Olympus Super Scatter, explained without the hype

Three versions of one god

Pragmatic Play has now released Gates of Olympus three ways. The original, covered in our Gates of Olympus review, is the 6x5 “pay anywhere” slot with Zeus throwing multiplier orbs on to the grid. The 1000 edition kept the layout and pushed the orbs up to 1,000x. The Super Scatter edition takes a different road: rather than only inflating the orbs, it changes what happens at the moment the free spins trigger.

That makes it the most interesting of the three to understand, and the easiest to misread from a thirty-second clip.

What a super scatter actually is

In the regular game, four or more scatter symbols anywhere on screen start the free spins. In this edition, some of those scatters can arrive as upgraded “super” scatters. When a trigger includes one, the game pays an instant prize on top of starting the round, and the size of that prize grows with the number of super scatters involved. The very top of that ladder is where the headline maximum win comes from, far above the 5,000x of the original.

The exact values of the ladder and the published ceiling are on the paytable inside the game, and that’s where we want you to read them, because Pragmatic Play releases more than one maths version of its slots. The default return is in the familiar region of 96.5%, but the casino decides which version it runs.
