“Can I get my winnings back on UPI?” is the most asked payment question in Indian gambling, and for a long time the honest answer was no: rupees went in through an aggregator and came back out as crypto or a bank transfer. That has changed at the five operators we rank. A payout goes back to the UPI ID you deposited from, from ₹500 to ₹1,00,000 a request, and it lands minutes to a few hours once approval clears.
Why a payout is a harder problem than a deposit
A deposit is a pull. You authorise a payment from your own account and the aggregator only has to accept it. A payout is a push from a merchant to an individual, which needs the payment provider to hold an outbound licence, to run the compliance checks that come with it, and to accept the exposure of sending money on behalf of a gambling operator into Indian bank accounts. That asymmetry is the whole story, and it is why the payout side of this market arrived years after the deposit side.
It also explains the conditions attached. A provider that pushes rupees to individuals is watched, so it verifies who it is paying, caps what it pays per request, and refuses anything that does not match the file. None of that is the casino being difficult.
What you need in place before you ask
- Finish KYC while you are still losing money, not on the day you win. Documents are checked at the first withdrawal, and that is what makes a first payout slower than every one after it.
- Register the UPI ID you want paying, in your casino profile, in the name on your ID. A handle like yourname@bank is enough — no account number, no IFSC.
- Clear or forfeit any active bonus. Outstanding wagering blocks the request before it reaches the payment provider at all.
- Request one meaningful amount rather than four small ones. Splitting requests to dodge a cap reads badly to a compliance team and slows everything down.
- Keep the confirmation. The payout carries a reference you will want if it goes missing, and you will want the whole set at filing time.
Amounts, caps and timings
| What | Figure | Why it is set there |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum per request | ₹500 | Below this the provider’s fixed cost eats the transfer |
| Maximum per request | ₹1,00,000 | Provider ceiling on a single outbound push |
| Maximum per day | ₹2,00,000 | Aggregate daily limit across requests |
| First payout | Up to 24 hours while kyc is reviewed | Documents are reviewed at this point, once |
| Later payouts | Minutes to a few hours | Approval is automated once your file is clean |
Above the per-request ceiling nothing is lost, it simply routes differently: the cashier moves you to a bank transfer, which is the right rail for large amounts anyway. Full breakdown in UPI withdrawal limits.
Which exit rail to pick
| Route out | Realistic speed | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| UPI to your VPA | Minutes to a few hours, 24x7 | Everyday amounts up to the cap. No account details to mistype |
| Crypto stablecoin | Minutes after approval | Any hour, any holiday, any size. Convert on an Indian exchange for a clean record |
| Bank transfer / IMPS | 1 to 3 working days | Amounts above the UPI ceiling, and anything you want landing in a specific account |
| Wallet or voucher layer | About a day | Where you already run a wallet on the way in |

When UPI is the wrong choice
- You won large. Take the bank route once rather than chipping at a daily cap for a week.
- You want it outside banking reach. Crypto is the rail that ignores calendars entirely.
- The handle is not yours. Paying a friend’s VPA is the fastest way to freeze an account.
- You are still wagering a bonus. Finish or forfeit it first: a blocked request is not a slow request, it is a refused one.
Honest pros and cons
What it gets right
- Money arrives in the app you already use, with no account number to mistype
- Runs 24x7, including Sundays and Indian bank holidays
- Same rail in both directions, so your records line up
- No conversion step if you deposited in rupees
What to plan around
- Per-request and per-day caps that large wins will hit
- The handle name must match your KYC file exactly
- The first payout waits on document review
- Tax is deducted before you see the money, not after
Tax comes off before the money moves
Thirty percent on net winnings is withheld at source under section 194BA. There is no minimum threshold and no deduction for expenses, and it is computed on net winnings at withdrawal rather than on the amount you happened to request. The full mechanics, with the arithmetic, are in the TDS guide.
If the payout does not arrive
- Check the cashier for the stage: pending approval, sent to provider, or paid. These are three different problems.
- If it says paid, ask support for the payment reference and take that to your bank.
- Look for a pending document request. Most holds are paperwork, not disputes.
- Give it one banking cycle before escalating, then escalate in writing.

Frequently asked questions
Can I withdraw casino winnings to UPI in India?
Yes at the five operators reviewed here. The payout goes to the UPI ID registered on your account, from ₹500 to ₹1,00,000 per request, and the handle has to carry the same name as your KYC documents.
How long does a UPI casino withdrawal take?
Minutes to a few hours once the request is approved. The first one takes up to 24 hours while KYC is reviewed, because documents are checked at that point rather than at registration.
What are the minimum and maximum UPI withdrawals?
At the operators we rank, ₹500 minimum and ₹1,00,000 per request, with ₹2,00,000 a day in aggregate. Larger amounts route as a bank transfer instead, which is the better rail at size anyway.
Why was my UPI withdrawal rejected?
In order of frequency: the name on the UPI handle does not match your verified documents, KYC is incomplete, a bonus is still wagering, the amount is over a cap, or the handle itself was mistyped. The first one accounts for most of them.
Can the payout go to a different UPI ID than the one I deposited from?
It has to be a handle in your own name, matching your documents. Paying someone else’s VPA is a third-party payment and gets an account frozen rather than paid.
Is tax deducted before the UPI payout arrives?
Yes. Thirty percent of net winnings is withheld at source under section 194BA before the money is pushed, so the amount landing in your app is the post-TDS figure.
